Rearranging Apps

  • tap and hold one app until apps "jiggle"
  • tap and drag app to new location (on same page, to the dock, or to another page)
  • click on the "x" to delete app (doesn't delete from iTunes, just the device)
  • press "home" button to save and exit (stops jiggling)

Creating folders
  • tap and hold one app until apps "jiggle"
  • tap and drag one of the apps to be placed in the folder on top of another app to be placed in the folder
  • a separate window appears - iOS attempts to name the folder with a "genre" name closest to the apps selected
  • delete the name and rename if current name isn't appropriate
  • tap somewhere in a blank area or press Home button to accept the new folder

(to delete a folder, tap and hold folder until apps "jiggle"
drag app to empty area of screen (continue doing this until all apps are out of folder and folder will disappear)

Closing open apps
  • double tap home
  • shows active apps
  • tap red line to close app

Search - Spotlight

  • swipe left to right from the Home page
  • search box appears
  • will search in built in apps (ex: mail, calendar, music, contacts, itunes, etc.)

Keyboard Tips

  • double tap the space bar to type a period and space
  • double tap Shift key for CAPS LOCK (will turn dark blue)--double tap to turn off CAPS LOCK
  • Tap Keyboard key to hid keyboard

Split the Keyboard
  • slide thumbs to the left and right of the virtual keyboard to split
  • (slide opposite direction to join keyboard)

Extra characters on keyboard
  • hold down letters to see options

Taking Screenshots: You can snap a shot of your iPad display by holding down the home button and the black power button at the same time. Screenshots are saved as photos in your iPad photo library.

Location Services: If you don’t want your iPad to register your physical location you can turn off Location Services in the General section of the native Settings app. Default is set to “on,” meaning that apps that show location data will ask you to share your location on launch.

Double-Size Apps: All apps that are not iPad-specific can be double-sized by selecting “2x” after launching the app.
